Lenovo unveils LePhone S2 and three LePad slates

Lenovo announced four new additions to its lineup of Android-powered devices. The event held in Beijing saw the unveiling of the LePhone S2 Gingebread smartphone, the 5″ LePad S2005 phoneblet as well as the LePad S2007 and LePad S2010 Honeycomb slates.

The LePhone S2
Contrary to the earlier rumours, the smartphone indeed runs on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and not Windows. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz single-core Scorpion processor and features a Snapdragon MSM8255 chipset. Here is a quick look at the highlighted features of the Lephone S2:

  • Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread
  • 3.8-inch WVGA LCD display with a resolution of 800 x 480
  • 512 MB RAM with 8GB internal storage capacity or 1GB RAM with 16GB storage
  • No MicroSD slot
  • 8 Megapixel camera that supports 720p video recording
  • 200GB of free cloud storage

The LePhone S2 is said to be priced approximately Rs.24,500 (USD 470), but there is no official word available on the pricing or the launch date as of now.

The LePad S2005

 

When it was reported that Lenovo had a 5-inch slate in the works, not much information was available at the time, except that it will run on the Android platform. At the launch event, Lenovo took the wraps off their latest mini tab powered by a Qualcomm dual-core 1.2GHz Scorpion processor. Here is a quick look at its specifications:
  • Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread
  • 5-inch LTPS display featuring a resolution of 800 x 480
  • 1GB RAM
  • 5 Megapixel rear camera that supports 1080p video recording
  • 1.3 Megapixel front facing camera
  • Micro-USB port, micro-HDMI port, HSPA+
  • 9.95mm thick
  • Weighs 198g
  • 1,680mAh battery

The LePad S2005 has an ultra-wide 178-degree viewing angle. There is no word yet on the pricing of the latest mini tab from Lenovo.

The Lenovo LePad S2007
The 7-inch LePad S2007 runs on Android Honeycomb and is powered by a Snapdragon chipset with 1.5GHz dual-core Scorpion processor. Here is a quick look at its highlighted features:

  • Android 3.2 Honeycomb
  • 7-inch IPS display featuring a resolution of 1280 x 800
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8 Megapixel rear camera
  • 1.3 Megapixel front facing camera
  • 9.7mm thick
  • Weighs 360g
  • 3780mAh battery

The Lenovo LePad S2010
This 10-inch tablet has similar specifications to the 7-inch LePad S2007. It too runs on Android Honeycomb and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Scorpion processor. Here is a quick look at its highlighted features:

  • Android 3.2 Honeycomb
  • 10-inch IPS display featuring a resolution of 1280 x 800
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8 Megapixel rear camera
  • 1.3 Megapixel front facing camera
  • 9.7mm thick
  • Weighs 670g
  • 7560mAh battery

Though these tablets run on Honeycomb, Lenovo has stated that they will receive Android Ice Cream Sandwich in the future.
