SEO Mistakes You Should Avoid To Boost Digital Marketing

SEO – Search Engine optimization, has evolved over the years and is still evolving as you read this article. If you are in anyway related to marketing, you understand how hard it really is. With every update a search engine goes through, marketeers have a mountain to move, just to make sure the lead generation funnel is not affected. The only way you can be sure of not getting hit by it is to be up-to-date and agile. Staying true to the theme, here are the 4 SEO tactics that would have worked wonders 5 years ago and has little or no impact on your search rankings today- Keyword Stuffing Vs Latent Semantic Indexing: There was a time when search engines would crawl your website, match the search term with the content and meta-description in your post and show the content with the most relevant matches. Pushing in all the similar sounding keywords into the meta description, irrespective of its relevance, still made it work. Google (or rather the engineers at Google) grew smarter, and in response to keyword stuffing, moved to LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Latent Semantic Indexing, in simple terms, understands synonyms. It helps search engines collate common words and phrases and identify them as keywords for the page. Now stuffing un-related or similar keywords into your page’s meta can lead Google to red flag you. THAT IS NOT GOOD. Though LSI does not immediately  affect your search engine rankings, it does affect your quality score. You want to be on the good side of this. 2. Backlinks, Guest Posts, and Directories: Ways through which SEO can be improved Another concept prevalent some time ago was to have bunch of websites and directories pointing at your page, write good meta, OK content and you were set for SEO glory. What marketeers did was to pay for services that inorganically shared links to your page all over the internet, at guest posts that matter none, from no name websites with negative quality scores, and voila you have tone of traffic coming in with great ranking. Again, Google (read- Google engineers) got smart. In most cases now, overcrowded backlinks are discounted and in some cases, the websites have been penalised by search engines. On similar lines, most SEO directories are a big NO. Avoid them as much as possible. Of course, don’t be stupid and buy services that give you 1000 backlinks from “relevant” websites for $49. Another aspect of backlinks comes from guest posts. Please keep backlinks to a minimum  from super relevant, high reputation, high quality sources only. Everything else, throw them in the trash.   3. Keywords- Domain Names and Anchor Texts: One of the beginners mistakes that companies do is buying out domains which are essentially keywords. Consider how www.bestdoughnutsintown.com  looks- well, shady! From all our experience on internet, click baits like this are best avoided. Though “best donuts in town” is a keyword and would show up if someone around searches for it, the trust associated is quite low. Leading to clicks being drawn away from your page. On the other hand, Domain name with brand and keywords- perfect (I love these guys), looks like a brand along with usual keywords, Doughnuts, coffee, Delicious Doughnuts. Do not get domain names just because it’s the...

9 Steps To Write The Perfect Content For SEO

9 Steps To Write The Perfect Content For SEO

In the rapidly shifting and evolving domain of social media management and online marketing, optimizing your website has acquired a major significance. To improve your ranking in the search engines’ result listings and increase organic traffic on your webpage, we bring to you 9 easy steps to generate the perfect content to optimize your site. Know your audience The first major task while performing SEO is to keep your users at the forefront and follow every other step within the range that it sets. For this you need to set a demarcated profile of your target users. Who makes up most part of your audience? What are their needs? Why should they visit your page? These are the prime questions that you need to consider before you start. Keyword research Since our aim is to generate traffic through search, you need to know what keywords are popular among users to search for a website like yours. Keyword research can help you validate and discover those words for which there exists a good amount of search volume. Google Keyword Planner can come to your aid here. It suggests words relating to your query that are currently trending or have historically trended. Go to Ad words account(if not exists, create one), Login->tools->keyword planner and type keyword. For example, if your domain is that of Public Relations, then the Keyword Planner will provide you data in the following way,                                     High Quality Content The most widely used search engines today aim towards listing the most relevant and high quality content at the top for their users. Websites with more interactive and engaging content aided with videos, infographics, blogs, etc have an upper hand over those offering just general information. You need to make sure your content is unique, compelling and more valuable than that offered on a competitive page. For example, when searching for real estate investment options, a high ranked page would look something like this:                                               Whereas, a non-engaging page such as below would not get you enough visits.                                             Keyword Optimization Once your basic content is ready, you need to ensure that the keywords are sprinkled throughout the page’s content. With respect to the overall word density, keywords should compose about 1%-3.5%. This will make it easy for the search engines to pick them while you also avoid the risk of being blamed for ‘keyword stuffing’. This kind of optimization assures maximum search-ability and boost search engine rankings. Page Formatting The arrangement of your content should be such that your researched keywords appear at the beginning of the page, say in the headline, and then repeated at the end of the content. They should also appear at least once in some of the intermediate paragraphs. Besides this, formatting tools like bold, italics and underline can be used to highlight the keywords, since the search engines assume them to be so. Let’s take the same example, see below and consider...

Stay single untill…

Stay single until you meet a guy who opens every door you walk through, who makes sure you walk on the inside of the sidewalk away from the street,  who holds your hand shamelessly and will kiss you in public. Stay single until you meet a guy who wants to bring you home to his parents,  Stay single until you meet the guy you’d proudly introduce to your father, whose friend’s already know about before you meet them. Stay single until you meet the guy who will drop whatever to be wherever you need him,  who says, “text me when you’re home safe,” and stays up until he knows you are. The one who doesn’t try and change you. The guy who always texts back no questions asked. Stay single until you meet a guy who doesn’t have time for games and is brutally honest always. The one who pulls you close in public and kisses your forehead. Stay single until you meet the guy pays out of respect for you and doesn’t let you touch your wallet. Stay single until you meet the guy who keeps his word,  who knows when to apologize when he’s wrong,  who sends you flowers to your office, just because. The guys who sends sweet texts in the middle of the meeting he knows you’re stressing over. Stay single until you meet the guy who makes you want to be a better woman,  who motivates you to achieve more and be better. Stay single until you meet a guy who is sure of you and never makes you doubt how he feels,  who is certain of you and his career and a future he wants you apart of, The one who says I Love You first just because he wants you to know. Stay single until you meet the guy who never stops trying to keep you, Because he knows getting you wasn’t the hard part but constantly giving you a reason to stay is what you deserve. Stay single until you meet the guy who makes you feel more beautiful just standing beside him,  who still gives you butterflies when you walk in a room, The one who changes the standard you once had and suddenly no one can compare. Stay single until you meet the guy you can’t live without.   Until then. Stay...

7 Ways Psychology Can Make Your Facebook Ads Unforgettable

Posted by on 2:14 pm in Blog | Comments Off on 7 Ways Psychology Can Make Your Facebook Ads Unforgettable

Getting people’s attention in an increasingly crowded space is the challenge all advertisers face. On Facebook, given the small real estate and defined limits we have, it’s an even bigger ask.   1. Always Show Faces If you want to draw people’s attention straight to your ad, make sure it shows a face.   2. Emotions Always Win Emotional arguments are always going to win over rationality. We’re always drawn to emotions in other people, especially in their faces, so this is a great way to use the above technique as well.   3. Use Red to Catch Attention Most mammals can only see 2 colors. Humans can see 3. We’ve evolved to see reds, along with the blues and greens dichromats can see, because only when we started to lose our hair. Once our ancestors could see the bare skin beneath they could see the red blood pumping through it. We would become red when excited or angry, and this association has stuck. Because of this evolutionary change we find the color red the most enticing, shocking, and exciting color of all.   4. Make Your Customer Part of the Cool Crowd As much as we love to think of ourselves as individuals, we never want to stray too far from the crowd. This is why 2 psychological techniques work so well in online advertising: social proof and social contagion.   5. Increase A Viewer’s Dissonance You have an internal model of what you are like. In it, you’re awesome. You are competent, smart, funny — people hang on your every word.   6. Make Your Product Scarce FOMO – Fear Of Missing Out. Apparently it’s in the dictionary. It’s proper name is the Scarcity Heuristic. The world is so complex that we are constantly taking little mental shortcuts. This is one of them. If something is scarce, we presume it’s more valuable. This principle is true most of the time, so it makes sense for us to use it as a general rule.   7. Use The Ultimate Words Images are king when it comes to advertising, but that doesn’t mean you should neglect your copy. Why? Because an image may instantly catch a persons eye, but the few words you use are what will ultimately win over a new customer. You have to get them right.   Free Free is the ultimate word for any viewer of an ad. We are always on the lookout for free. Including it in an ad and it’s almost guaranteed to catch the...

10 Books Every Artist Must Read

10 Books Every Artist Must Read

If you love reading books on art. Not just the kind with pretty pictures, either. But the kind with words.  Thankfully you are lucky enough to stumble into the world of art books. Here are ten books that every artist out there should purchase and read—at least once. Art & Fear If you’ve ever started to have thoughts in your head about “am I talented enough?” or “why do I bother making art?” then you need to read this book. You also need to read this book if you haven’t had those thoughts yet. It’s a quick read and very enjoyable. I don’t think any book will get you back to your easel faster than this one. The Art Spirit Sometimes I read too many books on technique, so I like to balance it out with some theory and emotion. Robert Henri’s The Art Spirit is a classic. You won’t find out the “best way to draw anime” in this book, but you might just discover why you’re making art in the first place. How Pictures Work It’s small, simple, and entirely profound. In my opinion the single best book on composition available. The illustrations are all made with cut paper, so all frills are left aside, leaving only pure design and composition. Molly Bang uses a number of comparison pictures to show you how design actually works. You can probably sit down and read it in one go, but you’ll find yourself returning to it time and time again. Imaginative Realism Though this might, at first glance, seem to lean heavily towards the genre illustrators in our midst, this book is great for artists of all types. James Gurney is a phenomenal painter and an equally fantastic teacher. He writes clearly and to the point. No matter what sort of art you want to do, I think you’ll find something pertinent in here. Color and Light This is James Gurney’s second book, and it’s easily as good as the first. I’ve done quite a lot of searching for good books on color and light and didn’t find anything useful enough to recommend… until this. James Gurney has done extensive research into how light and color work in the real world and how it applies to art. He balances the scientific understanding with artistic flare in the most eloquent way possible. And while I’m on the subject let me recommend these two DVDs put out by Gnomon: The Mechanics of Color and Practical Light and Color. Both helped me enormously when it came to learning color theory. Hawthorne on Painting Short & sweet. A small bite-sized book with tons of little nuggets of wisdom. It can be a little off-putting in its format (mostly transcribed critiques of images, but without the images), but it’s worth it. Some people also find it a little wishy-washy and not solidly academic enough, but I find it completely refreshing and hopeful. I don’t think any other book has been able to instill quite the passion for painting that this book exudes. Alla Prima Written by one of the most influential living artists, Alla Prima is an essential tome of observational painting. Richard Schmid can, at times, come across as all-knowing to some people, but he does so with a fair bit of justification. His...

4 Books That Will Make You A Genius

4 Books That Will Make You A Genius

4 Books That Will Make You A Genius MASTERY   If you have decided to find your own path, independent of social conditioning, this book is for you. It reads like a collection of 1,000 masters who dominated in their industries and were peak performers. It provides a framework for how they were able to awaken their creative genius and change the course of history. There’s something in Mastery for everyone.   BOLD What’s going to happen over the next 10 years? What about the next 30? As technology changes the way we live at an exponential rate, you can either keep up or get left behind. If you plan on being a leader, this book is a must. It will get you thinking about the future and how the actions you take today can set you apart down the road.   WHERE GOOD IDEAS COME FROM Our society loves to dramatize and turn people into heroes. We love the idea of the lonely genius who has a “eureka” moment and discovers the secret to life. It never works this way. Steven Johnson crushes this myth and presents a different case about where good ideas come from. He breaks down our misconceptions and provides us with details about how innovation really happens. Essentially it works like this… Good ideas come from a collaboration of historical events or as he calls it “the adjacent possible”- which is a kind of shadow future, hovering on the edges of the present state of things. It’s a map of all the ways in which the present can reinvent itself. He provides the framework to unleash your inner genius. Your job is to allow it to happen through you.   ANTIFRAGILE Nassim Taleb radiates the “don’t fuck with me” vibe in his writing. He’s a scary man. In his most recent release, he’s invented a new word “Antifragile” and describes it like this: “Fragile” means if you drop me, I break. Like a wine glass falling off the table. “Robust” means you can beat me until I deform and become unusable. Like a baseball bat repeatedly hitting a hardened concrete wall. The wood from the bat eventually breaks. “Antifragile” means that the harder you try to break me, the stronger I get. Like the story of the Hydra and her 9 heads. Each one you cut off, two more grow in it’s place. Taleb takes the idea of Antifragility and applies it to people, systems, processes, health, economics and personal struggles. The big takeaway is this… embrace chaos, uncertainty and struggle. These are the situations where you grow the most. You can’t become a genius without struggle. Invest in yourself and awaken your creative...
